Where to start

There has been a lot going on over the last couple of days.  The renderer is continuing his progress around the house. He is now working on the old house, and swearing at the port-hole window.

You can see the amazing weather has continued and to make the most of it I have taken a few days off. It seemed a sensible time given the amount happening in the house. I spent today painting the outside of the house.  It needs a "ghost coat" to start with, which is about 50% water, we got about half way down the side.

Most of the time was spent  working on the back.  this had the ghost coat, plus two more coats.  It was so sunny and is such a sun trap that by the time we had worked our way around the patio the start was dry.

This photo was taken around 6pm, with the sun coming from the front of the house.  In that light it is amazing how similar the colour looks to the original paint.  Actually the new paint is quite grey.  The idea was to get the main coats on so the bricky can lay the paving slabs finishing this section. It's funny to see it painted, and good to have done most of it myself. Hopefully I will continue working around the house tomorrow, allowing the builders to get on laying the floor.

Inside, the painting has also continued this time the study.  The green looks great, although we will need to be careful with the furnishings to make the most of it.

At the same time the kitchen has been fitted and we love it.

Finally the central column starts to be tied into the room.  The worktops are being measured tomorrow and hopefully will be ready next week, only then will we really know if the design works in reality.

As if that was not enough, there has been more painting in here as well, everyone seems to like to the blue.

The dining side of the room looks very empty now the kitchen is in.  Hopefully all that will change in a few weeks.

    1. Thank you, the colour has worked really well in there. I think the painter was pleased to be painting something other than white.
