One of the things I love about the builders is that the chippies are all family (the dad, son and another relative). Today we had all three on-site, which means it was a productive day.
While the two young ones were outside working on guttering, the dad was single-handedly building the cupboards for the entrance hall.
The idea is to provide space for coats, boots, and other stuff. We looked at several designs and in the end settled on three sections. The first by the front door will be a 1m wide full height cupboard with a shelf above it. At the other end, will be a second 1m wide section, this time split in half with shelves one side and hanging space the other. This can be seen in the photo here. Then in the middle will be a half cupboard with shelves above. This unit will be set back slightly, so it is not just one long run.
It shows the skill when in about 5 hours you can go from a set of sheets of wood to two of the units being fully built. With the second one not in place, I couldn't get a full photo, but the three units sit on a base and each one slides into place. The two large ones are complete, the middle unit is currently in pieces. I am guessing most people would struggle to build three flat pack units in that time, let alone start from scratch!
Meanwhile, the painters have continued on the woodwork and the electrician has fitted all the lights and extractor fans. I never thought I would be so excited to walk in and tun on a light and for something to actually happen.
It is almost worthwhile going to work just to see what has changed when you get home.
