The kitchen diner is starting to take shape, not only are all the supports out, but it is mainly battened and plaster boarded.
It has been interesting watching it slowly being clad, with beam being wrapped with the required fireproofing.
Then it was time to add a mock-up of the housing for the ovens. Currently the kitchen dinner is one large open plan room, and the oven housing will divide it and stop you from being able to see the whole way through the house. Instead when you look into the kitchen form the hall you will be greeted this view.
It should be much nicer than this, but the size and location gives us an of what it will look like. It does show that it will cast shadows into that corner.
These photos were taken at about 4.30pm on a miserable grey rainy day, but even with no doors or windows and the skylights covered there was a lot of light. Probably the most realistic view is from the patio doors.
This shows how the housing would match up with the edge of the beam, but it is difficult to get an idea of the scale of the space around it. I guess it will only come into its own when the island connected, and the rest of the kitchen is in.
The builders are not keen on it, but we all know there is only one view that counts, and she was most keen to see the new kitchen.
I think she is either thinking:
- So this is where my food will be prepared
- I'm never going to be able to get out of the dog flaps if they are on the ceiling
- That wall would be perfect for a big picture of me
This is the first time she has been bought over since before Christmas, as the house and garden are not dog friendly. She had a fun few minutes running around the kitchen sniffing everything and then just stared at the door. She is not at all happy about not being allowed out to defend her territory, I think there will be much charging around, grunting and growling, with hackles up once she is finally allowed into the garden. The foxes have had it all their own way for a long time.
