Starting to take shape

That was a bit of a scary night.  Another storm, and while I don't think the wind was as strong as the one on Wednesday, it seem to hit the house much harder. Thankfully everything is still standing and we still have a roof. Makes me even more pleased I am not one of the builders, especially with all this rain! Thankfully with the temporary roof on they have been able to get on with the inside of the back. Slightly nerve racking when they took the back wall down, but he house is still standing.

The back part of the old dinning room has been split up into the utility room (with the door on the right) and the shower room on the left.

Should be nice and light with the doors, the windows and the three skylights.

I had hoped to be in when the steels arrived to see them being installed, but with one late delivery work got in the way. Next thing we knew they were in, and the first layer of concrete was down on the floor. With most of the supports out, it is starting to feel like one room.

The last few days have been miserable, I really felt for the poor builders having to sort rubble and mixing the cement in the pouring rain and strong winds.  While the worst of the gales didn't arrive until the evening on Wednesday, it was not pretty out there. The least we can do is let them use the kitchen as a bike park.

The next stage for the back is the first fixes and to get the underfloor heating down.  At this point some people write their names in the foundations, we went for something more local.

With Muttley out of the way, the foxes have been making the most of it. They are brave at the best of times, so it was no surprise that we came in to find fox pawprints all around the new floor.

We may need to change the name from the Muttley Palace to the Foxes' Den.
