We have a plan.

For those that have not seen the house, the design can basically be split in two; the kitchen / diner extension, and the studio plus new study / spare room.  Around this there are a few little bits and pieces: moving the front door, adding downstairs shower and utility rooms, and insulating the roof.

Here is ground floor before the build:

Being on a corner plot the house is on two roads, to the left and to the bottom in the picture.  The plan is to move the front door to where the window is in Bed 3, with the current front door becoming the entrance to the side extension.  Then the big changes: removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room and extending out backwards to give one large room.  In the middle of the house (at the back of the current dining room) the shower room and utility are being squeezed in.  It will look something like this:

Bed 3 in the picture will be the studio where beautiful things will be created, Bed 4 will be a little study with pull down bed in case we have more than one unwanted visitor at a time.  The kitchen-diner will have big doors out to a patio (or plant display area as I like to call it).

Here is a view from the front and side:

As the side extension goes pretty much to the pavement, we decided not to have windows on the long wall, instead using skylights.  We managed to resist the suggestion from a certain family member that a row of portholes would look good.

So that's it, a palace fit for Muttley. Oh, and in case you are wondering, we checked and sadly the dining room will only seat 12, so we can't host Christmas.
