When you get to put the furniture back and realise that it doesn't quite fill the space like it used to.
The dining table used to fill the old dining room and now it looks tiny. We wanted a new table anyway and have only put this one back to judge the size.
It looks like the next one is going to have to be much bigger.
You also realise that there is a reason builders tend to rip out the old and replace with the new, restoring the old is hard work! The finger plates, all cleaned up, sanded and waxed.
Those were easy, next up were the handles, which were all painted white originally, the middle one shows them once stripped, and then on the right once sanded and waxed.
It turns out, this is dull work and I gave up after three sets. I guess there are only 5 more to do and thankfully some of them are already half done. Next time I'll make sure the handles mysteriously vanish so we can just get new ones.
