So close.

A very productive day and we actually got the builders to finish some of the jobs they have been putting off.  One door needed architrave, one needed stops, and the hall cupboard need the last two doors hanging.  I am pleased to say they actually worked their way through these and got them done.

While this was going on, the electrician was in working his way through his list, doing the light switches, oven, hob and hanging the pendants.  The three pendants work well, the blue one seemed to be the most popular.

At the same time, they took up the floor covering and when through removing all their stuff and cleaning up. It was strange to see the tiles again and it is really the first time we have seen them with the kitchen. By the end of the day, the builders were out and the last things to do in the kitchen / diner is the top coat on the woodwork and a it of touching up where the paintwork has been knocked.

So the kitchen is ready to be used, do you think a certain person could wait until it was totally finished to take possession?

Nope, she was carrying boxes in before the builders had even closed the door. Actually, we had agreed that it was ok to move the stuff out of the lounge and put it in the cupboards.  It was very strange putting things away, and realising how much space we had (having had one cupboard for the last 18 months).

This should have been the end of it, lots of celebrating, but we go to tun the hob on and it isn't working. A little playing later and it turns on but doesn't look correct, the lights don't seem to line up with the symbols.  It then become obvious that the top had slipped and the hob has to go back.  Typical isn't it, so close and now a delay due to a faulty hob.

I guess we'll have to put up with microwave meals for a few days more.
