Sometimes, it is obvious what the builders have been up to, on other days it is not. Today it was obvious the brickie had been busy, the wall around the front is almost finished, with just the coping stones to go on. The idea is once it is all gravelled and paved it will invite people into the house and to explore the garden.
Next up the top of the patio wall. They managed to find stones that match the texture of the floor slabs.
The wall needs painting, but the garden is getting there now. The fence along the road has started to come down and hopefully the new posts will go up tomorrow. The builders are going to do the posts and rails and we will stain and put up the feather boards. Hopefully we will have a few dry days as we can't have her majesty back until they are up to stop her escaping.
Inside it's less obvious what they have been up to. The door latches have been fitted, but not much else. I was struggling to see what the chippies had been up to all day, until I went to put something in the garage and found a large pile of timber. It took me a while to work out it was the porch, all cut to size ready to be fitted tomorrow.
Most importantly though is the news that the washing machine door has arrived and is fitted. I was pleased as it is another job off the list, but someone else was almost more excited than for any other progress. It is a worry.
So progress on all fronts. The real test will be if they can clear the garden and get all the major jobs finished by Friday. Our ideal is all work finished this week and then we get a snagging list together next week while we wait for the splash backs to arrive. Keep everything crossed for us.
